Point-To-Point Encryption: PCI Council Offers Guidance
Retail standards organization helps clarify where and when to encrypt credit card data.
The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) issued guidelines that help retailers understand the encryption requirements under the Payment Card Industry’s compliance guidelines, Security Dark Reading reports.
The PCI SSC’s new document, “Initial Roadmap: Point-to-Point Encryption Technology and PCI DSS Compliance,” offers guidance on what companies should look for in encryption technology that helps protect cardholder data as it is authorized and transported into a database.
The document clarifies end-to-end encryption and offers a new moniker of “point-to-point encryption” (P2Pe).
