This Personal Identification Number (PIN) Security Bulletin communicates Visa’s established requirements for the use of Triple Data Encryption Standard (TDES) for PIN encryption at all point-of-sale (POS) PIN Entry Devices (PEDs). Effective July 1, 2010, all Interlink-accepting POS PEDs and host systems must use TDES for the protection of PINs.

PCI Security Standards Council Strengthens Payment Card Data Security By Adding Additional Payment Devices To Existing Standards
The new PCI UPT (Unattended Payment Terminal) requirement has been approved by PCI Security Council.
